Complete and original with its 10 strips of animation. In good condition noting some pitting to the original thin mirrors. The strips are in very good conditions, a former owner has drawn some animation on the back of 5 strips. 13 cm high, 12.5 cm in diameter or about 5 1/8" x 4 7/8". The best animation toy, optical toy; invented in 1877 by the Frenchman Emile Reynaud. The Zoetrope was a great optical toy showing the illusion of movement but the loss of light was high as one could only see through the slots on the drum, Emile Reynaud solved that problem with his Praxinoscope as the movement is shown on mirrors at the centre of the apparatus, a great improvement.
