The Contrasts, a beautiful and very large French paper doll published around 1865. The label is signed Bommier, the publisher is Rousseau, Paris and the lithographer is Jannin, Paris.
The box contains 2 double sided dolls, a young beautiful rich woman and and old poor ugly one together with 2 backdrops and room settings for each doll.
The dolls fit on 2 velvet covered stands. The box contains 10 double sided dresses making 20 costumes all together, the hats are in a nice little box, there are 5 double sided ones for 10 dresses, note that 2 of the dresses come with their headdress attached.
In very good condition noting that one side of the lid has been replaced.
The dolls are 15.5 cm or 6 1/8" tall, the box is 46.5 cm x 35 cm x 6 cm.
