This ingenious toy was Made in France around 1895, it won a gold medal at a prestigious French inventors show in 1902. It comes in its original box with 4 strips of animation, original marble and crank. The instructions in French and English are pasted inside the lid. The pictures are mounted on a loop which fits inside the black box, the marble goes in the middle of the loop to give some tension, when the crank is turned the pictures come up one by one and the illusion of movement is so created. The instructions read: The Cinematograph-Toy is the most practical of all the apparatus made to-day for the reproduction of animated scenes.
